The Eighth Squad reports the arrest of a Delhi man for the Assault of an Officer that occurred on Friday May 13, 2022 at 6:17 am in Hicksville. 

According to detectives, officers responded to the Hicksville Middle School, located at 215 Jerusalem Avenue for a vehicle driving erratically in the parking lot but had left prior to police arrival. Officers searched the area and observed a 2018 Mercedes C43 with extensive front end damage traveling on 6^th Street. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle but the driver, now known as defendant Mark Scott, 54, of 1465 Arborhill Road, Delhi, New York, refused to stop. Defendant Mark Scott continued to travel near the intersection of Jerusalem Avenue and 8th Street, where he struck an unoccupied vehicle parked on the road before placing his car in reverse and striking the front end of a marked police vehicle. Officers attempted to remove Defendant Mark Scott from the vehicle and arrest him, but he physically resisted. In an attempt to subdue the defendant, police were forced to utilize an Electronic Control Device (ECD), which successfully allowed officers to place him into custody. One officer sustained injuries during the arrest and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. Defendant Mark Scott was also transported to a nearby hospital for evaluation. 

Defendant Mark Scott is charged with Assault 2^nd Degree, Attempted Assault 2^nd Degree, Reckless Endangerment 2^nd Degree, Criminal Mischief 4^th Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3^rd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7^th Degree, Resisting Arrest, Obstructing Governmental Administration 2^nd Degree, DWAI Drugs and numerous Vehicle and Traffic Law violations. He will be arraigned when medically practical.
