The Fourth Squad reports the arrest of a Queens woman and a Bronx man for Criminal Possession of a Weapon that occurred on Monday, May 16, 2022 at 12:30 a.m. in Inwood.
According to Detectives, two Bureau of Special Operations (BSO) Officers were on Crime Prevention Enforcement in the Five Towns area when they heard multiple gun shots in the vicinity of Bayview Avenue and Walcott Avenue. The Nassau County Crime Scene Unit responded and recovered 18 shell casings and three bullet fragments from the scene. The Officers began a canvass of the area and received a description of the suspects who were involved in the shooting. A short time later, Officers observed two males and one female in the Town of Hempstead Terrace Garden Park (1 St. George Place, Inwood) after sunset. Two of the subjects matched the description they received earlier.
Defendant Satoya L. Mccoy, 31, of 1430 Redfern Avenue in Far Rockaway was observed throwing a black and silver Smith-Wesson 9mm handgun on the ground. The gun had a 16 round, high capacity, magazine inserted into it and was reported stolen by the Plymouth Police Department in North Carolina.
The second defendant Rashawn R. Williams, 38, of 14-20 Redfern Avenue in Far Rockaway, did actively resist arrest by flailing his arms and continued to ignore Officers commands. Upon arrival of additional Police Officers, they were able to gain control of the subject and place him under arrest. Defendant Williams was found to be in possession of a loaded grey and black Colt .45 caliber handgun. The firearm recovered was found to be reported stolen by South Charleston Police Department in West Virginia.
The third defendant Deshaun T. Gray, 26, of 540 E. 144 Street in the Bronx was arrested for being in the Town of Hempstead Terrace Garden Park after sunset while closed. He was released with a Desk Appearance Ticket.
Defendant Mccoy is charged with Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the 4th Degree, Criminal Possession of a Firearm, and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 3rd Degree: Ammunition Feeding Device. She will be arraigned on Tuesday, May 17, 2022 at First District Court in Hempstead. Defendant Mccoy was found to have an open Felony Nassau County Bench Warrant for charges from 2018.
Defendant Williams is charged with Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the 4th Degree: Firearms, Criminal Possession of a Firearm: Posses a Firearm, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 3rd Degree: Previous Conviction, Criminal Possession Weapon in the 3rd Degree: Ammunition Feeding Device, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd Degree: Loaded Firearm, Obstructing Governmental Administration in the 2nd Degree. He will be arraigned when medically practical.
