
Arson Bomb Squad Detectives report the arrest of a Baldwin man for an incident that occurred on Wednesday, June 1, 2022 at 6:30 pm in Baldwin.
According to detectives, officers responded to a disturbance at a residence located on Grand Avenue. The defendant, Colin Eith, 33, was involved in an altercation with his roommate and set paper on fire in the kitchen before leaving the scene. The defendant’s roommate, a 40-year-old male victim, called 911 and officers responded along with the local fire department. Upon their arrival, the fire had already been extinguished and Eith returned to the residence, locking himself in a bedroom. The Emergency Services Unit responded to the scene and were able to place Eith into custody without incident. The defendant, while acting in a manner that was harmful to himself and others, was transported to a local hospital for evaluation.
During the investigation, it was determined that the male victim has an active protective order against the defendant.
Colin Eith is charged with Attempted Arson 2nd Degree and Criminal Contempt 2nd Degree. The defendant has two open warrants for Burglary 2nd Degree and Assault 3rd Degree. He will be arraigned on June 2, 2022 at First District Court, Hempstead.
