Major Case Bureau reports the arrest of an East Islip woman for Grand Larceny that occurred from August 2019 through January 2022 in Nassau County.
According to Robbery Squad detectives, police were notified that a female employee, working as an office administrator for St. William the Abbot Roman Catholic Church located at 2000 Jackson Avenue, Seaford and Diocese of Rockville Center located at 992 N Village Avenue, Rockville Centre, had been generating fraudulent invoices payable to her consulting company for work that was never performed.
A thorough investigation was conducted and Iris Gomez, 39, of 91 Claridge Lane, was arrested. Police discovered that Defendant Gomez used a consulting company she had established to fraudulently bill both churches. It was determined that the total loss dating back to August 2019 was in excess of $400,000 dollars.
Defendant Gomez is charged with Grand Larceny 2nd Degree and Grand Larceny 3rd Degree. She will be arraigned on Thursday, July 14, 2022 at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
