The Eighth Squad reports the details of an Assault that occurred on Tuesday, July 19, 2022 at 3:10 pm in Bethpage.

According to detectives, officers responded to the Eighth Precinct Stationhouse located at 299 Hicksville Road in Bethpage for a domestic incident.  Defendant Matthew J. Reardon, 35, of 20 Simone Court, arrived at the scene behaving highly aggressive toward the officers and the female victim, 37, who was already present at the stationhouse.  While officers attempted to place Reardon under arrest, he resisted and refused to comply with verbal commands.  Two officers sustained injuries during the course of the arrest, as the defendant was violent and combative.  Both officers were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.    

The female victims 3-year-old daughter and 3-month-old son were present during the incident. The female victim and both juveniles were not injured.

Defendant Matthew J. Reardon is charged with two (2) counts of Assault 2^nd Degree, two (2) counts of Criminal Contempt 2^nd Degree, two (2) counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, Obstructing Governmental Administration and Resisting Arrest.  He will be arraigned on Wednesday, July 20, 2022 at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
