The Fifth Squad reports the arrest of a Uniondale man for the Assault of an Officer that occurred on Friday, July 29, 2022 at 1:35 PM in Elmont.

According to Detectives, defendant James Paden, 53 of 343 Clarendon Road, did enter a Marshalls located at 600 Hempstead Turnpike. Once inside he took multiple items from the shelves before exiting the store without making any attempt to pay for them. Officers responded to scene and found defendant James Paden in the parking lot. An Officer sustained injuries during the course of the arrest as the defendant was violent and combative while resisting arrest. Defendant James Paden and the injured Officer were transported to a nearby hospital for assessment and treatment.

Defendant James Paden is charged with Assault 2^nd degree, Grand Larceny 4^th degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3^rd degree, Obstructing Governmental Administration and Resisting Arrest. He will be arraigned when medically practical.
