Second Squad Detectives report the arrest of a Westbury man for Criminal Possession of a Weapon that occurred on Sunday, July 31, 2022 at 4:15 pm in Westbury.

According to Detectives, Officers responded to a disturbance at a Westbury residence. Upon arrival, Officers were notified about an argument between the subject, his brother-in-law and father-in-law. The argument escalated, the subject grabbed a knife and threatened the victims by waving it around. The victims immediately exited the residence.

During the investigation officers observed a magazine containing 9MM rounds and a dismantled Ghost gun. The knife was also recovered.

Steven Mathew, 35, of Westbury was arrested without incident.

Defendant Mathew is charged with Criminal Possession of a firearm, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3^rd Degree, two counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4^th Degree, Menacing 2^nd Degree, and two counts of Endangering the Welfare of a child. He will be arraigned on Monday, August 1, 2022 at First District Court 99 Main Street Hempstead.
