The Second Squad reports the arrest of a Brooklyn man for the Assault of a Police Officer that occurred on Thursday, December, 9, 2021 at 3:40 PM in Hicksville.
According to Detectives, Bureau of Special Operations Officers observed a black Nissan Altima with Pennsylvania license plates traveling westbound on Old Country Road at Duffy Avenue commit multiple traffic infractions. The Officers conducted a Vehicle and Traffic Law stop. The vehicle was occupied by two males. As part of the investigation one Officer requested the driver’s license and registration from the vehicle operator which he failed to provide. When prompted again for his identification, the driver fled in his vehicle at a high rate of speed, striking the Officer in the foot and hand and proceeded to drag the officer several feet before leaving the scene. The injured Officer was taken to an area hospital where he underwent treatment for his injuries. The Officer has been out of work since this incident and has undergone four surgeries.
On August 17, 2022 at 3:05 PM Second Squad Detectives located Ephrem Jusino, 40, of 2191 Bergen Street, Brooklyn in Deer Park and placed him into custody.
Defendant Jusino is charged with Assault to a Police Officer Causing Serious Physical Injury, Leaving the Scene of an Incident with Serious Injury, Reckless Driving, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation 2nd Degree and traffic infractions. He will be arraigned on Thursday, August 18, 2022 at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
