Nassau County Executive Bruce A. Blakeman and Police Commissioner Patrick J. Ryder announce its “2022 PREPARE School Program Seminar” to be held with Superintendents from 56 public school districts, private schools, parochial schools, local colleges and Municipal Commissioners and Chiefs from individual Nassau Police Departments.
This seminar will strengthen our already resilient safety precautions for the opening of schools to ensure that all emergency school entry protocols are adhered to in the event of an active shooter situation.
Police Department members of all ranks will also greet students, faculty and families to show our presence as a commitment that their safety is our top priority as schools open.
By having officers visit schools on a regular basis we are constantly familiarizing ourselves with not only the layout of the buildings, but we are also introducing ourselves to school staff, students and parents.
Our officers will continue to visit schools while they are in session throughout the year to create strong relationships and promote the safest atmosphere possible.
As part of the Departments School Resource Program, all RMP’s have already been equipped with a breach tool that will allow officers to gain access to locked doors and a tourniquet that will aid in stopping profuse bleeding.
In addition to the current Breach Tool, our newly acquired Halligan Tool for emergency entries will be on display.
When: Wednesday, August 31, 2022 from 6:30pm to 7:30pm.
Where: David S. Mack Center for Training and Intelligence
