Fourth Squad detectives report the arrest of a Hewlett man for Harassment that occurred on Thursday, October 20, 2022, at 12:00 am in Hewlett.
According to detectives, the victims’ son, 7, was sleeping when he awoke from loud screaming. He was upset and notified his parents about the situation. They reviewed their doorbell surveillance camera and observed a neighbor leaving a package at the house. The victims have received unwanted packages from this neighbor in the past and notified police.
It was determined the envelope had hateful symbols on the outside and contained letters with anti-Semitic remarks. William Quigley, 52, of Hewlett was arrested without incident.
Defendant Quigley is charged with Harassment 2nd Degree, Stalking 3rd Degree and Stalking 4th Degree. He will be arraigned on Friday, October 21, 2022, at First District Court, Hempstead.
