Homicide Squad Detectives are investigating a Serious Vehicular Crash that occurred on Saturday, October 29, 2022, at 10:36 pm in Hempstead.
According to Detectives, an occupied 2018 Dodge Charger was heading eastbound on Jerusalem Avenue in the vicinity of Ingraham Boulevard at a high rate of speed where the driver lost control, struck a curb and then collided with a tree causing the rear passenger to be ejected. The passenger was transported to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced by hospital staff.
Officers observed the operator of the vehicle to have a strong odor of alcohol on his breath, blood shot eyes and slurred speech and was taken into police custody and transported to the Central Testing Section. The vehicle was impounded.
The driver is being charged with Driving While Intoxicated and Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated (Child under 16) under the Leandra’s Law. He will be arraigned on Sunday, October 30, 2022, at First District Court, 99 Main Street in Hempstead.
The investigation is ongoing.

The deceased, mentioned above, has been identified as Xavier Parris, 26, of Massapequa.
The defendant has been identified as Donnell Hill, 50, of Hempstead.
