Third Squad Detectives report the arrest of two North Carolina men for Criminal Possession of a Weapon that occurred on Sunday, November 13, 2022, at 7:27 pm in East Garden City.
According to detectives, officers observed a Gray Nissan Altima with a Pennsylvania registration, fail to stop at a stop sign located at the exit ramp of the Meadowbrook State Parkway and Zeckendorf Boulevard. Officers activated the emergency lights and conducted a Vehicle and Traffic Law stop. As police approached the vehicle, they observed the driver and his rear passenger making furtive movements. For the officer’s safety, both men were removed from the vehicle and at this time police observed a loaded Glock 43 .9mm in the driver side door panel. Upon removing the rear male passenger, officers also observed a loaded Glock 30 .45 caliber on the seat.
Nicholas Caple, 24, of 119 Dellinger Drive, Statesville, North Carolina and Maurice Tucker, 23, of 115 Book Court, Statesville, North Carolina were arrested without incident.
Defendant Nicholas Caple is charged with Criminal Possession of a Firearm, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th Degree and a Vehicle and Traffic Law Violation. Maurice Tucker is charged with Criminal Possession of a Firearm, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd Degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th Degree. Both defendants will be arraigned Monday, November 14, 2022, at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
