The Public Information Office reports the Arrest of a Queens, NY woman on Monday, November 28, 2022 at 4:29pm in Valley Stream.

According to Officers, Defendant Sapphire Townes, 30, of 45-19 Rockaway Beach Boulevard did enter the Target located at 500 W Sunrise Highway and placed assorted merchandise into a shopping cart.  The defendant passed all points of sale without attempting to purchase said items.  When Officers informed the defendant that she was being placed under arrest she became violent and combative; her actions caused Officers to sustain injuries during the course of the arrest.  Two Officers were transported to a local area hospital for treatment of their injuries.

Defendant Sapphire Townes is charged with two counts of Assault 2^nd Degree, two counts of Robbery 2^nd Degree and two counts of Resisting Arrest.  She will be arraigned on Tuesday, November 29, 2022 in First District Court 99 Main Street Hempstead.
