The Third Squad is investigating a Grand Larceny that occurred on Sunday, January 8, 2023, at 8:50 AM in Westbury.
According to Detectives, a 43-year-old male victim was fueling up his 2022 Mercedes at the Shell Gas Station, located at 865 Carman Avenue. A male black subject described as being approximately 5’8’’ tall and having a thin build, wearing gray sweatpants, gray sweatshirt, black and white shoes and a gray mask did exit the passenger side door of a nearby gray Audi and then entered the victim’s vehicle, fleeing southbound on Carman Avenue. As the subject fled, the gas pump nozzle still attached to the 2022 Mercedes was ripped off in the process. The unknown subject operating the gray Audi also fled the scene southbound on Carman Avenue. The subject operating the 2022 Mercedes was then involved in an auto accident at the intersection of Carman Avenue and Hempstead Turnpike with another vehicle operated by 55-year-old male victim and fled the scene. No injuries were reported at scene by the victim. The 2022 Mercedes was later located abandoned near the intersection of Hempstead Turnpike and Park Avenue, East Meadow. Investigation is ongoing.
