The Nassau County Police Department reports the details of a DWI Leandra’s Law arrest that occurred on Thursday, February 9, 2023, at 6:00 pm in Lawrence.According to Police, Defendant Rachael Hess, 44, of 796 Lanett Avenue, Far Rockaway was operating a 2018 Chevrolet Traverse southbound on Rockaway Turnpike near Broadway when she struck a Black Honda HRV operated by a 37-year-old male, who then collided with a gray Jeep operated by a 46-year-old male who were stopped at a red light. Subsequent to the investigation the defendant was arrested without incident for Driving While Intoxicated. The male juvenile passenger, 10, was released into the custody of a family member who had responded to the scene. The vehicle was impounded. Defendant Rachael Hess is charged with Driving While Intoxicated, Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated (Child under 16) Leandra’s Law, Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated and Endangering the Welfare of a Child. She will be arraigned on Friday, February 10, 2023, at First District Court 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
