The Public Information Office reports the details of a motor vehicle accident that occurred on Saturday, February 11, 2023, at 1:30 p.m. in Westbury.
Officers responded to a 911 call for a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Jericho Turnpike and Roxbury Road. A 24-year-old male operating a 2005 Mercedes sedan was involved in a collision with a 2017 Volkswagen sedan being operated by a 31-year-old female. The 2005 Mercedes overturned after colliding with the 2017 Volkswagen. The driver of the 2005 Mercedes was pulled to safety by pedestrians who witnessed the accident. He was transported to a local area hospital for lacerations to his hands and head. The driver of the 2017 Volkswagen was transported to a local area hospital for precautionary measures. The Volkswagen had three other occupants including: a 31-year-old male also transported for minor complaints of pain, a 5-year-old and an 8-year-old who were not injured.
A 2010 Mercedes sedan driven by a 19-year-old male, traveling westbound on Jericho Turnpike, collided with a curb after swerving to avoid the collision mentioned above. The driver, along with two other 19-year-old passengers, were transported to a local area hospital for minor complaints of pain.
All cars remained at the scene. The investigation is ongoing, but there is no criminality suspected at this time.
