The Public Information Office reports the arrest of an Elmhurst man for a Grand Larceny that occurred on Monday, February 27, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. in East Garden City.
According to Police, Samir Munoz Valdenegro, 22, of 75-12 Woodside Avenue, entered the Saks Fifth Avenue store, 1070 Old Country Road, and attempted to steal merchandise valued at $1,123.97 USC. Store security was able to detain the defendant until Police arrived. Officers were able to recover multiple fraudulent international identifications which included pictures of the defendant on them. He also misrepresented his identity to Officers upon arrest.
Defendant Valdenegro is charged with two counts of Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument 2nd Degree, Criminal Impersonation 2nd Degree, and Grand Larceny 4th Degree. The defendant has a Full -Extradition Felony Warrant out of the Ventura County, CA- Sheriff’s Office for a probation violation involving four counts of Unauthorized Use of Personal Identifying Information of Another and Conspiracy to Commit a Crime. Additionally, he is charged for the Warrant: Fugitive from Justice. He will be arraigned Tuesday, February 28, 2023, at First District Court, 99 Main Street in Hempstead.
