The First Squad reports the arrest of a Uniondale man for an Assault that occurred on Wednesday, March 8, 2023, at 8:45 pm in Uniondale.
According to detectives, police responded to 602 Liberty Street to assist Nassau County Probation with an investigation. Upon arrival, First Precinct officers were informed that Defendant Carlos Y. Medrano fled from Nassau County Probation Officers while they were attempting to conduct a probation visit. A brief foot pursuit ensued and Carlos Y. Medrano, 27, of 602 Liberty Street was placed under arrest a short time later.
During the arrest, a probation officer suffered injuries to his hands and legs. He was transported to an area hospital for treatment and evaluation.
Subsequent to the investigation, officers recovered a white substance believed to be cocaine that Medrano attempted to discard during the foot pursuit.
Defendant Carlos Y. Medrano is charged with Assault 2nd Degree, Obstructing Governmental Administration 2nd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 5th Degree, Tampering with Physical Evidence and Disorderly Conduct. He will be arraigned on March 9, 2023, at First District Court, Hempstead.
