First Squad Detectives are investigating a Grand Larceny that occurred on Thursday, March 09, 2023, at 3:45 am in Merrick.
According to detectives, the male victim, 45, awoke when he heard the sound of power tools outside. The male went to the window and observed two (2) males wearing dark masks and dark clothing. A black four-door sedan was parked in the vicinity of the victim’s 2006 Honda Accord on Carroll Avenue. The victim’s vehicle was raised and the catalytic converted was in the process of being removed. The victim exited his Merrick residence and confronted the subjects. One of the subjects raised a pipe shaped object and threatened the victim. He returned to his house and called 911.
The subjects continued to remove the catalytic converter and fled westbound on Carroll Avenue before turning southbound on Meadowbrook Road.
The public is reminded to immediately call 911 and refrain from confronting individuals committing crimes.
