First Squad detectives report the arrest of a Harlem man for attempted robbery and an assault that occurred in Freeport on Friday, May 27, 2016 at 1:07 A.M.
According to detectives, Jose Rodriguez, 24, of 112 E. 128th St., while at 100 Plaza E LIRR Freeport train station, approached a male victim, 34, asked him for his cell phone and then cut the victim on the arm with a knife. A short time later, the defendant confronted a second male victim and swung his knife at him several times. This victim did not sustain any injuries.
Nassau County police ambulance transported the first victim, who sustained a laceration, to a local hospital for treatment.
Rodriguez is being charged with two counts of Robbery 1st Degree (Attempt), Robbery 2nd Degree (Attempt), Assault 2nd Degree, Criminal Possession Weapon 3rd Degree and two counts of Menacing 2nd Degree. He will be arraigned on Friday, May 27, 2016 in First District Court, Hempstead.
