The Third Squad reports the arrest of a Hempstead man for a Grand Larceny that occurred at 5:56pm on Thursday, March 23, 2023 in Westbury.
According to Detectives, defendant Brian Coles, 32, of 18 Van Cott Avenue Apt 1 of Hempstead did enter the Walgreens located at 15 Old Country Road in Westbury and did conceal various items within the pockets of his clothing and passed all points of purchase without paying for the items valued at approximately $1100.00 US currency. Prior to Police arrival the defendant had fled the store on foot; he was observed at 511 Old Country Road. Subsequent to the investigation, at 6:57pm the defendant was arrested without incident. The defendant was also in possession of syringes, three glassine envelopes containing a white powdery substance believed to be Heroin and a clear burnt pipe commonly used for narcotics. Upon recovery of the proceeds, the skin on the Officer’s hand was punctured by one of the syringes. The Officer was transported to a local area hospital for treatment of his injury; the Defendant was transported for a medical evaluation, both were treated and released.
Defendant Brian Coles is charged with Grand Larceny 4th Degree, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th Degree, Possession of Burglar Tools and a Warrant Investigation Arrest. He will be arraigned on Friday, March 24, 2023 in First District Court 99 Main Street Hempstead.
The arrest investigation revealed the Defendant to have six active warrants from July 2020 through September 2022 for narcotic possession and larceny within Nassau County.
