The First Squad reports the arrest of a Hempstead juvenile for Assault that occurred on Monday, March 27, 2023, at 11:20 am in Uniondale.
According to detectives, a 17-year-old female student at the Uniondale High school located at 933 Goodrich Street had a verbal argument with a 17- and 18-year-old female student while walking in the hallway. The argument became physical, and the 17-year-old defendant began to punch the 17-year-old student. The defendant then displayed a utility knife and lunged at the victim. As the victim put up her hands defending herself, she was cut suffering a minor laceration to her left ring finger. The other 18-year-old victim intervened in the fight and suffered a minor laceration to her left cheek after the defendant swung the knife at her. School security and teachers were able to break up the fight until First Precinct police arrived. The defendant suffered no injuries. The two victims were treated by a Nassau County Police Medic at the scene and both parents of the two victim’s refused further medical treatment. The knife was recovered.
The defendant is charged with Assault 2nd degree, Assault 3rd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th Degree and Menacing 2nd degree. The defendant was arraigned at the First District Court Youth Section located at 99 Main Street in Hempstead.
