The Seventh Squad reports the details of a Grand Larceny that occurred on Friday, April 7, 2023, at 4:11 p.m. in Seaford.
According to Detectives, a victim reports a loss of $1,489.00 USC due to a scam involving her Amazon Prime account. While attempting to view Amazon Prime on her television an error message appeared on the screen. The message stated that the account has been locked and instructed her to call 1-848-246-1786. After calling the phone number the victim was told that in order to unlock her Amazon account, she must download the “Anydesk App” to her cell phone which allowed the suspect to view the victims phone screen in real time. Also, she was instructed to enable the “Quick Pay” feature on her Capital One Checking account and, using Zelle, send various amounts of money to a specific bank account. After sending a total of $1,489.00 USC, the victim became suspicious and refused to send any more money. The investigation is ongoing.
