The Seventh Squad reports the details of a Grand Larceny that occurred on Thursday, April 13, 2023, at 9:00 AM in Seaford and was reported to Police on Saturday, April 22, 2023.
According to Detectives, a 67-year-old male met an unknown subject through Facebook that advised him to contact another person through Facebook to inquire about a government program he could be eligible for. The victim contacted the subject and through a series of interactions was advised that he would need to send money to the subject in order to apply for the false program. The victim made several transactions, amounting to several thousand in US Currency before realizing he was being scammed and contacted Police. Investigation is ongoing.
The Nassau County Police Department urges the community to be on alert and to remind vulnerable family members, friends and neighbors about potential scams or frauds.
