The First Squad reports the details of a Grand Larceny that occurred on Wednesday, April 19, 2023, at 12:00 p.m. in North Merrick and was reported to Police on Friday, April 21, 2023.
According to Detectives, a victim was contacted by an unknown phone number and a male suspect stated he was from PSEG Utility company. The suspect told the victim that the account was two months late on payments. He instructed the victim to Zelle a total of $2,998.13 to an unknown phone number from her Bank of America account. The victim complied, then became suspicious and contacted Police. Investigation is ongoing.
The Nassau County Police Department urges the community to be on alert and to remind vulnerable family members, friends and neighbors about potential scams or frauds.
