The Second Squad reports an arrest for Assault which occurred Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at 6:40 p.m. in Hicksville.
According to detectives, at approximately 3:20 p.m. a male victim, 47, while driving into the Broadway Mall entrance off Newbridge Road had another vehicle pull in front of him which was being driven by an unknown male. The victim had his son, 14 and his daughter, 19, in the car with him. The suspect who had pulled in front of him started yelling obscenities at him from his vehicle. As the victim attempted to get the license plate of the suspect vehicle in the Target parking lot, he was approached by the suspect who was shaking a can of what is believed to be pepper spray. The suspect sprayed the pepper spray into the victim’s car hitting all three occupants of the vehicle. The victims, along with a witness attempted to subdue the suspect at which time the witness’s wrist was slammed into a parked car. The suspect was able to flee the scene.
An investigation identified Robert G. Labella, 58, of 250 8th Avenue, Sea Cliff as the suspect that committed these crimes. At 6:40 p.m. he was located at his residence and placed under arrest without incident.
Labella is charged with three counts of Assault 2nd degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th degree, Assault 3rd degree and Endangering the Welfare of a Child. He will be arraigned on Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at First District Court in Hempstead.
