The Third Squad reports the arrest of a Vermont man for Robbery that occurred on Thursday, May 26, 2016 at 1:46 am in Westbury.
According to detectives, Lawrence E. Stevens, 32, of 2820 Shelburne Road, Shelburne attended a wedding held at Verdis Catering located at 680 Old Country Road when he became involved in a physical altercation with a 35 year old male victim. Stevens punched the victim to the right side of his face causing him to fall to the ground. Defendant Stevens continued to punch the victim multiple times to the head causing bruising and swelling. Stevens then forcefully removed a gold colored ring that the victim was wearing. Third Precinct Police were called and upon their arrival they were able to place the defendant Lawrence E. Stevens into police custody without incident. Further investigation revealed the defendant was also found to be in possession of plastic knuckles. The victim refused medical treatment at the scene.
Defendant Lawrence E. Stevens is being charged with Robbery 2nd Degree, Assault 3rd Degree, and Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th Degree. He will be arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead on Thursday, May 26, 2016.
