The First Squad reports the arrest of a Bellmore man for an incident that occurred on Thursday, September 18, 2025 at 4:40 pm in North Bellmore.
According to Detectives, officers responded to a North Bellmore residence for a domestic disturbance. Upon police arrival, officers were informed that a male subject, Jason Franco, 34, was involved in a verbal argument with a male victim, 77. The argument escalated and the subject took a sledgehammer to the victim’s bedroom door. The victim was in fear for his life and called 911. The defendant was located and while police attempted to place him into custody, he became violent and combative causing two officers to sustain injuries during the course of the arrest. The defendant was placed under arrest and transported to a local hospital for medical evaluation. The injured officers were also transported to a nearby hospital for treatment and evaluation of their injuries. Further investigation revealed the defendant had violated an active Order of Protection.
Defendant Jason Franco is charged with Assault 2nd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd Degree, Criminal Mischief 4th Degree, Criminal Contempt 2nd Degree, Obstructing Governmental Administration 2nd Degree and Resisting Arrest. He will be arraigned on Friday, September 19, 2025 at First District Court, 99 Main Street Hempstead.
