The Arson Bomb Squad reports the arrest of an Elmont man for an incident that occurred on Friday, September 19, 2025 at 11:45 p.m. in Elmont.
According to detectives, Fifth precinct officers responded to a Elmont residence for a disturbance. Upon arrival, it was determined that a 26-year-old female victim who resides at the location received a text message from a housemate asking her if everything was ok because she heard screaming from the victim’s room. The victim, who was not home, then facetimed the defendant, Supreet Mangat, 30, where she observed the defendant acting erratically and damaging property in her room including setting a chair on fire. Responding officers observed the defendant damaging property and he was placed into police custody without incident. The defendant was transported by a Nassau County Police Department ambulance to a local hospital for treatment of minor lacerations, no other injuries were reported. The investigation is ongoing.
Defendant Mangat is charged with Arson 2nd Degree, Criminal Mischief 3rd Degree and Reckless Endangerment 2nd Degree. He will be arraigned on Saturday, September 20, 2025 at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
