The Public Information office reports the arrest of an Elmont man for Driving While Intoxicated that occurred on Friday, October 3, 2025 at 4:11 a.m. in North Valley Stream.
According to Police, a Fifth Precinct Officer was stopped at a traffic light, headed southbound at North Fletcher Avenue and the Southern State Parkway. A black Dodge Challenger was coming off of the Southern State Parkway, headed northbound on North Fletcher Avenue and struck the front of the marked Police vehicle. The operator of the vehicle, Defendant Terry Valme, 28, of 1517 Caryl Court, was observed to have glassy eyes and an odor of alcohol emanating from his breath. Standard Field Sobriety Tests were conducted having positive results and the Defendant was placed under arrest without incident. The Officer was transported to a local area hospital for minor injuries.
Defendant Valme is charged with Driving While Intoxicated, Assault 3rd Degree and multiple Vehicle and Traffic Law Infractions. He will be arraigned on Friday, October 3, 2025 at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
