The Fourth Squad reports the arrest of an Inwood male for the Assault on an Officer that occurred on Sunday, October 5, 2025 at 12:43 PM in Inwood.
According to Detectives, defendant Marvin Mendez Torrez, 24, of 73 Church Street was responsible for several petit larcenies that occurred at the following times and locations:
09/10/2025 – CVS Pharmacy– 530 Burnside Avenue, Inwood
09/24/2025 – Marshals - 345 Rockaway Turnpike, North Lawrence
09/25/2025 – Marshals – 345 Rockaway Turnpike, North Lawrence
09/26/2025 – Lowes Home Improvement – 253 Rockaway Turnpike, North Lawrence
After conducting an investigation and finding defendant Torrez to be responsible for the above incidents, 4th Squad Detectives located him near the intersection of Henry Street and Church Street. Defendant Torrez fled on foot but a short time later he was located in the backyard of a residence located on Henry Street. A Detective sustained injuries during the course of the arrest as the defendant was violent and combative while resisting arrest. Further investigation led to a glass pipe containing a white residue being recovered. Defendant Torrez was transported to a nearby hospital for assessment. The injured detective sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was also transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Defendant Torrez is charged with Assault 2nd degree, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th degree, Criminal Possession of Stolen Property, four (4) counts of Petit Larceny and Resisting Arrest. He will be arraigned on Monday, October 6, 2025 at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
