The Fourth Squad reports the arrest of three men at 3:45pm on Friday, December 19, 2014 in Elmont.
According to Detectives, the three defendants were witnessed by a NYRA Peace Officer in a private parking lot located at Belmont Racetrack 2150 Hempstead Turnpike. In a joint investigation with Police the defendants were arrested without incident. It was determined that from July 10, 2014 through December 19, 2014 the three defendants did intentionally cause damage to and removed the tires and rims of various new automobiles parked at 2150 Hempstead Turnpike. The damaged vehicles included a Ford Explorer, Honda Accord, Infiniti, Kia Sorrento, two Subaru Crosstreks, Nissan Altima, Subaru Forester and Subaru BRZ.
Defendants Mikal Torres, 19, of 1288 New York Avenue Elmont and Andrew Conrad, 18, of 200 Averill Boulevard Franklin Square are each charged with five counts of Grand Larceny 3rd Degree and eight counts of Criminal Mischief 3rd Degree. Defendant Aaron Maradiaga, 18, of 16 Melrose Street Elmont is charged with one count of Grand Larceny 3rd Degree and eight counts of Criminal Mischief 3rd Degree. All defendants will be arraigned on Saturday, December 20, 2014 in First District Court 99 Main Street Hempstead.
