The Major Case Bureau reports the arrest of two Bronx men for grand larceny and possession of forged instruments which occurred in Oceanside on Wednesday, 02/04/15 at 12:45 P.M.
According to detectives, Akeem Benjamin, 28, of 639 E. 169th St., entered Wells Fargo Bank located at 3584 Long Beach Rd., and attempted to withdraw $3,500 from a victim’s account with a forged California Driver’s License. The teller became suspicious and police were notified.
Fourth Precinct police officers located the defendant in a van outside of the bank. Two forged credit cards were recovered from the defendant’s wallet with an additional California Driver’s License. Co-defendant Gerald Harley, 27, of 523 Commonwealth, who was a passenger in the van, was also found to be in possession of forged credit cards and forged driver’s licenses.
Benjamin is being charged with Grand Larceny 3rd Degree (Attempt), four counts of Possession Forged Instrument 2nd Degree, and Forgery 2nd Degree. Harley is being charged with six counts of Possession Forged Instrument 2nd Degree. Both defendants will be arraigned on Thursday, 02/05/15 in First District Court, Hempstead.
