The Nassau County Police report the arrest of a West Hempstead man for Menacing that occurred on Tuesday, July 19, 2016 at 8:30 p.m. in West Hempstead.
According to police, while members of the Franklin Square Munson Fire Department were conducting their annual door to door solicitation for donations on Dogwood Avenue, a volunteer knocked on the door of the defendant Carl Semencic, 65 of 527 Dogwood Avenue. The defendant came to the door holding a black handgun in his left hand and exited the home. He then tapped on the front glass door with the gun, pointing to a sign that read “DO NOT KNOCK, NO PEDDLERS” and told the volunteer to “Go Away”. The firefighter backed away and notified police. Responding officers spoke with Semencic and subsequently placed him under arrest without incident.
Semencic is charged with Menacing 2nd degree and Possession of a Dangerous Weapon. He was issued a Desk Appearance Ticket to respond on Thursday, August 11, 2016 to First District Court in Hempstead.
