The Major Case Bureau reports the details of an arrest for Grand Larceny that occurred on June 28, 2016 at 6:24 pm.
According to Crimes Against Property Squad Detectives, on June 28, 2016, Black Forest Industries located in Cary, North Carolina received an on-line purchase for four (4) Rotiform CCV 18” vehicle rims totaling $975.98. The order was placed using a Capital One Bank credit card and delivery to a Walton Avenue, Uniondale address. On July 11, 2016 Black Forest Industries received a charge back from Capital One Bank deeming the purchase fraudulent.
Black Forest Industries contacted the Nassau County Police Department for assistance in identifying the person responsible and recovering the stolen property. Detectives conducted an investigation and also determined that the same Capital One Bank credit card was used to purchase food from Papa Johns’ Pizza and delivery to 676 Hempstead Blvd., Uniondale on June 28, 2016 and July 02, 2016. Subsequent investigation led to the arrest of defendant Jamaar J. Monuma, 21, of 676 Hempstead Blvd., Uniondale on July 27, 2016 at 12:30 pm without incident. The four (4) vehicle rims were recovered at the scene.
Defendant Monuma is being charged with Grand Larceny 3rd Degree, Identity Theft 1st Degree and Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 4th Degree. He will be arraigned on Thursday, July 28, 2016 at First District Court, Hempstead.
