The Major Case Bureau reports the arrest of three men on Sunday, June 5, 2016 at 10:35pm in Farmingdale.
According to Detectives, a Vehicle and Traffic Law stop was conducted at W. Oak Street when two Officers on patrol assigned to C.I.R.R.T observed the operator of a black colored 2015 Mazda CX5 NY registration FJG9855 travelling eastbound on Hempstead Turnpike fail to signal a lane change. The Officers observed on the center console of the vehicle a clear plastic bag containing a white powdery substance believed to be cocaine and a second clear bag with a white rocky substance believed to be crack cocaine. Officers also observed a loaded Smith & Wesson .40 caliber semi-automatic handgun wedged between the carpet and center console on the passenger side of the vehicle. The three occupants were removed from the vehicle and placed under arrest without incident. Further investigation revealed an envelope containing a substance believed to be heroin, a white plastic jar containing a substance believed to be cocaine, two Suboxone film strips, numerous pieces of drug paraphernalia and two .40 caliber rounds.
Defendant Kevin S. Cassidy, 27, of 27 Richmond Street Islip was the operator of the vehicle and he is charged with three counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 1st, 3rd, and 7th Degrees, Criminal Possession of a Firearm and one VTL violation. Defendant Michael A. Tufariello, 26, of 80 Fitchburg Street Bayshore was the front seat passenger and defendant Curtis D. Duncan, 35, of 65 Belmont Avenue West Babylon was the rear seat passenger. They are each charged with two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 1st and 3rd Degrees and Criminal Possession of a Weapon. All three defendants were arraigned on Monday, June 6, 2016 in First District Court 99 Main Street Hempstead.
