The First Squad reports the arrest of two males for a Robbery that occurred at 8:40pm on Tuesday, August 9, 2016 in Roosevelt.
According to Detectives, the male victim, 27, was riding his black Huffy bicycle in front of 118 Allers Boulevard when he was approached by the two defendants. Defendant Milton Santa Maria-Garcia, 19, of 120 Park Avenue Roosevelt grabbed the victim’s t-shirt from behind and with a closed fist punched the victim in the mouth. Defendant Jose Garcia, 20, of 42 Park Avenue Roosevelt with a closed fist punched the victim about the head and left eye. The victim fell to the ground and both defendants continued to strike the victim while he was on the ground. Defendant Garcia went into the victim’s pockets and removed his wallet and an undetermined amount of US currency and fled the scene on the victim’s bicycle. Defendant Santa Maria-Garcia fled the scene on foot. The investigation led to Officers locating both defendants on Lakewood Avenue where they were placed under arrest without incident. The Huffy bicycle was recovered.
Defendants Milton Santa Maria-Garcia and Jose Garcia are each charged with two counts of Robbery 2nd Degree and Defendant Jose Garcia is additionally charged with Criminal Possession of Stolen Property. Both Defendants will be arraigned on Wednesday, August 10, 2016 in First District Court 99 Main Street Hempstead.
