The Marine Bureau reports the details of a boating incident which occurred in Half Moon Bay in Sands Point on Friday, 08/12/16 at 7:00 P.M.
According to police, Marine 3 received a mayday distress call from the captain of a 32 foot sailboat, claiming he lost power during the storm. The sailboat was drifting east towards the shore and getting dangerously close to the rocks. Marine 3 responded and hooked the disabled vessel and towed it to safer waters until the arrival of Sea Tow, who ultimately towed the vessel to Manhasset Bay. There were four passengers on board.
No injuries were reported.
