Fifth Squad detectives report the details of an arrest for an attempted assault that occurred in Valley Stream on Monday, 08/15/16 at 3:27 P.M.
According to detectives, Christopher Hicks, 32, of 410 N. Corona Ave., while employed as a mechanic for County Truck and Auto located at 140 E. Merrick Rd., became enraged after he was fired from his job. He then picked up a muffler and threw it at a vehicle that was being worked on in the shop, causing an estimated $3000 to the car. The defendant exited the shop and went to his car, where he retrieved a handgun, returned to the shop and fired two gunshots into the open bay doors where several employees were working, almost striking one employee in the head. Hicks then fled the scene in his vehicle.
No injuries were reported.
Fifth Precinct police officers located Hicks a short time later at his residence where he was placed under arrest. He is being charged with Assault 1st Degree (Attempt), Criminal Possession of Weapon 2nd Degree, Reckless Endangerment 1st Degree, and two counts of Criminal Mischief 2nd Degree. He will be arraigned on Tuesday, 08/16/16 in First District Court, Hempstead.
