The Nassau County Police Department reports the arrest of a Bronx man for Driving While Intoxicated that occurred on Sunday, August 28, 2016 at 7:08 pm in North Woodmere.
According to police, Fourth Precinct Officers responded to an auto accident involving a bicyclist and an automobile on Park Lane and Cedarhurst Street. Defendant Justin Aaron Ramsnamy, 19, of 2531 Woodhull Avenue, Bronx was driving a 2008 BMW when he struck a 55 year old male bicyclist. The bicyclist was airlifted to a local hospital for treatment of a fractured leg and upper arm injuries. A 15 year old male passenger in the BMW was transported to a local hospital for non-life threatening injures. Officers observed the defendant to have slurred speech, glassy bloodshot eyes and an odor of alcohol on his breath. Defendant Ramsnamy was placed under arrest at the scene without further incident. The 15 year old passenger was release to his parents at the hospital.
Defendant Ramsnamy is being charged with Vehicular Assault 2nd Degree, Aggravated Driving Intoxicated- Leandra’s Law, Endangering the Welfare of a Child and Driving While Intoxicated. He will be arraigned on Monday, August 29, 2016 at First District Court, Hempstead.
