The Fifth Squad reports the arrest of a Saint Albans woman for an incident that occurred on Monday, September 5, 2016 at 12:55 pm in Elmont.
According to detectives, Tanaisha Ferrell, 24 of 186-20 Dormans Road was operating a 2007 BMW in the parking lot of 1797 Dutch Broadway when she accidently struck a Nassau County marked police vehicle operated by a Fifth Precinct officer. Ferrell then fled westbound on Dutch Broadway at a high rate of speed ignoring the efforts of police to have her stop. The defendant drove recklessly, disregarding several traffic control devices and striking an unoccupied vehicle while turning onto Louis Avenue and continuing fleeing until she was stopped on the dead end of Huntley Road and placed under arrest. Police found the defendant’s 1 year old son in a car seat in the rear seat of the vehicle and transported him to a local hospital for medical evaluation then released him to a family member. The officer involved in the accident was transported to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries.
Ferrell is charged with Reckless Driving, Unlawful Fleeing of a Police Officer 3rd degree, Endangering the Welfare of a Child, Leaving the Scene-Physical Injury and multiple Vehicle and Traffic violations. The defendant will be arraigned on Thursday, August 20, 2015 at First District Court in Hempstead.
