The Third Squad reports the arrest of three individuals for Burglary and Attempted Kidnapping which occurred on Sunday, September 4, 2016 at 8:40 p.m. in Westbury.
According to detectives, Ayeisha S. Woods, 22 of 11804 204th Street, St. Albans, Mark Persaud, 29, no known address and Jeanette Ortiz, 33 of 2103 Honeywell, Bronx arrived at the Grand Street home of a male victim, 53 and knocked on his back door. Upon opening the door the victim recognized Woods, as she and Ortiz forced their way into his home. The victim grabbed a knife from the kitchen as defendant Persaud entered the home, armed with a black hand gun (now known to be a pellet gun), which he pointed at the victim. Woods and Pershaud then struck the victim in the head with the pistol and an axe handle causing multiple lacerations to his head and face. Woods picked up the keys to the victim’s 2014 Ford Edge and exited the home.
Two Third Squad detectives were in the area when they heard a radio transmission for a disturbance at that location. As the detectives walked up the driveway, Woods shifted the car into reverse and drove at a high rate of speed, forcing them to jump out of the way to avoid being struck. The detectives returned to their vehicle and followed Woods in an attempt to pull her over. She lost control of the auto and struck a park vehicle on Roosevelt Court at which time she was placed her under arrest. Woods was transported to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Persaud and Ortiz fled the home, but were later located inside a room at the Pines Motor Lodge, 101 Taylor Avenue. Bureau of Special Operations officers, along with Crisis Negotiators responded and were able to talk both defendants out of the hotel room. They were placed under arrest without further incident. The victim was treated and released from a local hospital for injuries he sustained during the attack.
Woods is charged with Kidnapping 1st degree (Attempt), Burglary 1st degree,
Conspiracy 2nd degree, Aggravated Assault (Attempt), Assault 2nd degree, Grand Larceny, 3rd degree, and Reckless Driving.
Persaud is charged with Kidnapping 1st degree (Attempt), Burglary 1st degree, Conspiracy 2nd degree and Assault 2nd degree.

All three defendants will be arraigned on Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at First District Court in Hempstead.
