The Major Case Bureau reports the arrest of a Roslyn Heights man on Tuesday, October 4, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. in Mineola.
According to Crimes Against Property detectives, between August 17, 2016 and October 4, 2016 Timothy M. Smith, 39, of 110 Browers Lane, cashed 42 forged checks that he had stolen from his employer, American Theatre Dance Workshop, located at 999 Herricks Road in New Hyde Park. On October 4, Smith attempted to cash one of the checks at TD Bank located at 540 Jericho Turnpike in Mineola and police were notified. Responding officers placed him under arrest at that location without incident. The victim suffered a loss of over $18,000. Smith was found to be in possession of 2 glassine bags containing heroin at the time of his arrest.
Smith is charged with Grand Larceny 3rd degree, three counts of Possession of a Forged Instrument 2nd degree, Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 3rd degree and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th degree. He will be arraigned on Wednesday, October 5, 2016 at First District Court in Hempstead.
