Nassau County Police report the arrest of a Lynbrook man for Driving While Intoxicated (Leandra Law) on Saturday, October 08, 2016 at 12:30 a.m. in Valley Stream.
According to police, Fifth Precinct Officers were on Shine Place for a disturbance call when Jose A. Forero, 62 of 2 Duyrea Place arrived at the location operating a Jeep Wrangler with one headlight out, and his 6 year old daughter in the rear seat. While speaking with Forero the officers determined that he was intoxicated and asked him to exit the vehicle. Forero became agitated and approached the officers in an aggressive manner yelling and flailing his arms. He continued to refuse to comply with the officers commands and was placed under arrest. Once the defendant was secured he was placed in the rear of a patrol car where he began to bang his head, and kick the windows and computer in the vehicle. The officers became concerned for the defendant’s safety and requested an ambulance. Forero was transported to an area hospital for medical evaluation. The child was released to a family member.
Forero is charged with Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated with child under 15 (Leandra Law), Endangering the Welfare of a Child, Driving While Intoxicated, Obstructing Governmental Administration 2nd degree, and multiple vehicle and traffic law violations. He will be arraigned on Saturday, October 8, 2016 at First District Court in Hempstead.
