The Third Squad reports the arrest of two individuals at 6:55pm on Tuesday, May 17, 2016 in Westbury.
According to Detectives, Officers observed a blue colored 2006 Nissan Altima NY registration EDY4269 traveling in an excess of speed prudent for the roadway. As Officers attempted to perform a Vehicle and Traffic Law Stop, the driver of the vehicle lost control causing the vehicle to strike a metal street sign and a wooden telephone pole. The vehicle came to a rest approximately fifty feet from 395 Powells Lane. As the rear seat passenger, defendant Anthony A. Porteous, 40, of 207 Hopper Street Westbury exited the vehicle he was advised that he was being placed under arrest. At that time, the defendant violently resisted arrest by flailing his arms and pushing one Officer to the ground causing the Officer to break a bone in his right hand. A second Officer also sustained injuries to his right hand requiring medical assistance. These actions caused another Officer to use his Electric Control Device to finally control the defendant and place him into custody. The driver, defendant Adolph Ford Jr., 45, of 151 Mirin Avenue Roosevelt fled on foot and was placed into custody in the rear yard of 625 Rockland Street without incident. Subsequent to the investigation a third male, the front passenger, was released and not charged with a crime.
Defendant Anthony A. Porteous is charged with two counts of Assault 2nd Degree. Defendant Adolph Ford Jr., is charged with Reckless Driving, Leaving the Scene of an Accident and eleven various traffic violations. In addition, Ford was found to have an open NYS Parole Warrant. Both defendants will be arraigned on Wednesday, May 18, 2016 in First District Court 99 Main Street Hempstead.
