The Homicide Squad is investigating a Fatal Vehicular Accident that occurred on Wednesday, November 2, 2016 at approximately 8:20 p.m. in Freeport.
According to detectives, a 45 year old Hempstead male operating a 2001 Buick LeSabre south on Rutland Road struck a 2012 Mercedes Benz travelling west on Seaman Avenue which was being driven by a male, 24 years of age. Both vehicles were redirected to the southwest corner of the intersection where the Mercedes Benz came to rest against a house. The driver of the Mercedes Benz was transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the Buick was placed under arrest and transported to an area hospital where he is being treated for a leg injury. A female passenger in the Buick, 33, was transported to Nassau University Medical Center where she was pronounced deceased at 10:48 p.m. by hospital staff. Both vehicles were impounded for brake and safety inspections.
Charges for the driver of the Buick are pending at this time. The investigation is ongoing. The name of the deceased is being withheld pending family notification.

Defendant William Billups, 45, of 103 Parsons Drive, Hempstead is being charged with Manslaughter 2nd Degree, Assault 3rd Degree, Aggravated Unlicensed Op Veh 3rd Degree and will be arraigned when practical. No photo is available at this time.
