The Major Case Bureau reports an arrest for Robbery on Wednesday, November 09, 2016 at 12:30 p.m. from an incident that occurred in Lawrence.
According to detectives, on Thursday, June 15, 2016 the male victim, 21, was in the St. Mary’s Star of the Sea Cemetery with acquaintances when an argument occurred. Saul Rodriguez, 19, of 61 Wanser Avenue 1st Fl., Inwood and Franklin Acosta, 18, of 1334 Caffrey Avenue Apt. 4D, Far Rockaway began punching and kicking the victim. The fight escalated and both suspects stabbed the victim causing non-life threatening lacerations to his hand and shoulder. The suspects took the victims cell phone before fleeing the scene. The victim was taken to an area hospital for treatment for his injuries. Rodriguez was located on Friday July 16, 2016 at 11:35 p.m. and placed under arrest without incident.
Acosta fled the state in an attempt to avoid arrest. On Wednesday, November 9, 2016 at 12:30 p.m. the Gang Investigations Squad, Nassau County Police Fugitive Squad and the U.S. Marshalls Service NYNJ-RFTF located the suspect in Maryland and placed him under arrest without incident.
Both men are charged with Robbery 1st degree, two count of Robbery 2nd degree and Assault 2nd degree. Additionally Acosta was found to have open Nassau County warrants for Robbery 1st degree, Robbery 2nd degree and Assault 2nd degree from a separate incident. Acosta is scheduled to be arraigned on Thursday, November 10, 2016 at First District Court in Hempstead.

The correct date of occurrence is July 14, 2016 and Rodriguez was arrested July 16.
