Third Squad detectives are investigating a Robbery/Home Invasion that occurred on Friday, December 23, 2016 at 7:20 pm in Westbury.
According to detectives, after answering a knock at the door of a Dover Street residence, an 11 year old female was confronted by a male Hispanic who forced himself into the home while displaying a handgun. The first subject, who was wearing a black mask covering his face, was followed into the house by three other male Hispanics who were also wearing masks covering their faces. After walking into the kitchen one of the subjects grabbed a knife and held it to the neck of another female victim who was 10 years old. They then forced the girls towards the back of the home and entered a rear bedroom where a 45 year old female and a 35 year old male were eating dinner. One subject yelled in Spanish, “Where is the money” and used a belt to bind the hands of the male victim while the other subjects began to ransack all of the rooms in the house. Before leaving the home, one of the subjects, who had the kitchen knife, pushed it against the male victim’s body causing a small laceration and told him not to call the police. After all the subjects left the home the victims observed them fleeing on foot through the backyard and called 911.
A subsequent investigation revealed that approximately $1700.00 was taken from a basement apartment that was unoccupied at the time of the incident.
The victims described the subjects as all being approximately 5’6” tall, 160-170 pounds and wearing all black clothing. The injured victim received treatment at the scene and refused further medical attention.
Detectives request anyone with information regarding this incident to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
