The Third Squad is investigating an unusual incident that occurred on Monday, May 15, 2017 at 1:34 a.m. in Hempstead.
According to detectives, Hempstead Village Police conducted a Vehicle and Traffic Stop on Harvard Street. During the investigation an officer discharged his service weapon and the subject fled from the scene. The subject’s unoccupied vehicle was located on Princeton Street. The investigation is ongoing.

The Third Squad reports the arrest of John Green, 27, of 105 Harvard Street Hempstead for the above crime. The defendant was arrested at 11:35am in East Meadow and is charged with Unlawful Fleeing of Police Officer and Leaving the scene of an Accident without a Report. He was released on an Appearance Ticket returnable to First District Court on June 1, 2017. The defendant was additionally held and charged with a New York State Parole Violation on a signed warrant from the Department of Corrections and Community Supervision. He was arraigned on Friday, May 19, 2017 in First District Court 99 Main Street Hempstead.
