According to Narcotics/Vice Squad detectives, after an investigation in Lynbrook and in conjunction with the Long Island Heroin Initiative and the Lynbrook Police Department, defendant Earl Larkin, 29, of 17 North Emerald Lane, Amityville did possess and agreed to sell a quantity of heroin. The defendant was observed sitting in a 1998 Honda Accord on Freer Street when Police Officers attempted to conduct a Vehicle Traffic Stop. The defendant put the vehicle in reverse and at a high rate of speed struck a Lynbrook Police vehicle. The defendant then struck the front driver’s side door of another police vehicle as he fled the scene causing that Officer injury to his back and left knee. Defendant Larkin then continued driving with his head lights off at a high rate of speed through the streets of Lynbrook. The defendant was stopped on Scranton Avenue and Broadway, where he was placed under arrest. A five year old boy was found in the rear seat of the automobile. A front seat passenger and mother of the five year old, defendant Dashayia Footman, 25, of 140 Princeton Street, Hempstead was also placed under arrest. The child was unharmed and released to his grandmother.
Defendant Larkin is being charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd Degree, Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance 3rd Degree, Assault 2nd Degree, Criminal Mischief 2nd Degree, Unlawful Fleeing of a Police Officer and Unlawful Dealing with a Child. Defendant Footman is being charged with Unlawful Dealing with a Child. They will be arraigned on Friday, May 6, 2016 at First District Court, Hempstead.
